Combat is based on chaining different strikes. Alternate between four directions to keep your chain fast, turn parries and dodges into counterattacks, and string the right sequences into combos that deal massive damage.
Mashing buttons gets you killed.

Enemies respond to all of your actions. They will block, dodge, feint, taunt and counter your attacks. You must adapt to their moves and react accordingly.
